Food and Fitness
Note to ones self..NEVER eat pizza an hour before working out. Actually, just don’t eat pizza!! I had some leftover pizza from yesterday and needed to have a filling lunch so that I could work out and teach without having to eat in between. I ate 2 slices of leftover pizza and headed out to the gym. By the time I got there, it was already a bit late so I could only use the eliptical for 25 minutes, stretch and change in to my teaching clothes to leave. As I was working out I could feel this weight in my stomach and I didn’t want to push myself that hard. It didn’t help that the pizza had left me thirsty so I was always guzzling water but never really quenching my thirst.
I made it through alive though but now I know to NEVER eat anything solid before working out. I used to eat my Kinetix bar and yoghurt, but this new kind that I got is not really good..it is sweetened with aspartame which is gross. So I am not inclined to want to eat that yoghurt even though I should finish it off. Tomorrow I will just eat it and then get myself a good lunch of a veggie dip at Superstore for the transition between the gym and work. The problem with the Kinetix bars is that when I eat them (which is usually around 12:30 in the afternoon), I am not really THAT hungry come 4:00. Since I don’t have any breaks from work between 4:00 and 8:30, I end up having to starve a bit and then eat whatever I can when I come home.
I really need to be eating more fruit and veggies though..just for health sake at least. I don’t have any in the house and I just can’t get on the veggie train, but from tomorrow onwards I will start having a salad every day again with good snacks in between.
It also didn’t help that I found out today that my dog does have to go for chemo and radiation treatment for his lymphoma. My head wasn’t in the state to think about me, so I was really dragging my heels at the gym. I always feel ripped off after only a half an hour of working out, but at least I am not sore and I can manage to get a good amount of time burning off the calories I got from that pizza.
I got the best gym bag from Winners though..hot pink with white trim..in the Lisa fashion no less. It is much thinner and sleeker with good space, and it fits in the locker-I love this bag and it is so much easier for me to carry around. My new Roots Active pants are awesome, best ones yet..they are kinda like tights but with boot cut bottoms on them as opposed to skin tight leg lines, AND in black! Perfect! I think that brings my gym wardrobe tally to 6 different outfits! Go ME! ![]()
