Trauma: Life in the Gym

Slow Progress

Slowly but surely, I am getting back on track with my working out.Yesterday I went down to the gym and spent 35 minutes on the Eliptical. That was good for me even though I was a bit lethargic throughout. I hate being on my monthly and trying to get energy to work out. Usually I can run at about 68-71 RPM’S on the Eliptical, but for the entire 35 minutes, I was pulling in at 54-56 RPM’s. I still did it though and wanted to listen to the rest of my Josh Groban cd, but had to go. Today, I was running behind and dragging my butt so I thought that if I went to the gym, I would only be able to get in 20 or so minutes of working out with the drive. I decided to pull out a workout video and do that at home. I really enjoy workout videos because they give you a different spinoff on things. (There is more where this came from … )

All Quiet on the Eastern Front

It sure has been a quiet week!! After that one Cher workout which I hated, I have to say that the activity of actually working out for 30 minutes plus has been put on hold. On Tuesday my back hips started hurting badly along with my neck so I just decided to let it rest until I got to the Chiropractor. Today I went and feel sore but definitely better. Tomorrow I am going to just take it easy and not attempt to strain the muslces that have now been stretched a bit for my back area and neck. It looks like if I DO work out, it will most likely be on Saturday as I have to teach on Sunday and host a recital.

It didn’t help that the rain had me away from my car so I couldn’t drive down to the gym at all. But with my hurting happening, even working out at home wouldn’t have helped because I was in too much pain to move all around like a crazy woman!! If I don’t get to the gym then I will just take to trying some yoga at home to keep my muscles stretched out. Other than that, it will for SURE mean that starting on Monday, I will be back in the gym 4-5 times a week and on a consistant eating and drinking water schedule!

Gosh, when school starts, life will be hectic, but I have to work on making sure that I STILL get to the gym on my off days of teaching which would only be on Monday, Thursday and Sunday, with a potential Saturday thrown in. Ahhh well…I will worry about that when the time comes. Now I just gotta hop back on the Fitness train and get my newly cracked butt in to high gear again :)

Say What??

With this heavy downpouring of rain that is happening, I didn’t even attempt to venture down to the gym today. It wouldn’t be worth my having to try and see through the gusts of wind and rain slapping against my car windsheild for only an hours workout. I have to say that I am feeling REALLY sore in my neck and on my hip bone..it really hurts so my chiro appointment has been made for Thursday which is the earliest I can get down there. I just love how my neck starts to act up RIGHT before I have to go for a hip crack, just because the Chiro loves cracking my neck and it hurts like poop to do! Gaining Weight in Just a Minute

Yesterday when Russ was over, I somehow got it in to my thick head that I wanted to take my measurements. I think Russ asked or something and me being Miss Non Chalant, decided to pull out this tape measure. We then proceeded to take measurements and Russ decided that he wanted to see what I weighed on the scale. Uh oh. When a man wants to really know how much you weight, it might mean that you are starting to have too much lovin from your oven! Gasp.

I have to admit that it has taken me years to get off the scale, to stop obsessing over it and worrying about gaining/losing weight. For the past year, I only let my clothes tell me if I am gaining, steady or losing-and that has been better than anything. The last time I looked at the scale I was 128 pounds. And no, I am NOT hiding an extra 5..if I was then I could have said I was 123 pounds couldn’t I?? (There is more where this came from … )

Jazzing it Up

Gym time has been going really well…maybe too well. I am finding that I am feeling very routine as of late with going on the Eliptical, then doing the circuit weights and finishing up.The treadmill is not for me and the bikes are ok but I need to keep moving my arms. I really like the weight circuit so that is fine, but now I need something more. Especially in the cardio area. The classes they offer seem really good but they offer them at very odd times..at least for me. There is only one class offered on Friday mornings..a few on Sat and Sun mornings, and then wierd ones throughout the day during the week. I want to try a step class or yoga class but the times are either when I teach or at 10:00 am! No thanks!! I have SO many fun workout tapes at home that I want to start getting in to again, but I am afraid that if I do, I won’t want to head to the gym. (There is more where this came from … )
