That Sinking Feeling

Filed under: My Attempt at Fitness — Lisa at 12:01 am on Friday, September 16, 2005

It has been just over a week since I have been finished my detox-I have since had the usual foods but not overstuffing my face-I guess I don’t have an excuse to do that in preparation for a detox or anything. However, I have noticed a few things. Some of my more current clothes now fit loose…aka my jeans-yeah you would think that this is a good thing right? NO-when my jeans get big, the ass of them goes saggy and I don’t have much of one to hold it up. I tend to get VERY frustrated when this happens because I don’t like buying new jeans all the time (shocking I know! haha). My one pair of black jeans that I got maybe a week before my detox, now sag..they are loose from the butt and the crotch and they are too long which I end up walking all over with my heels. The Day After!

Filed under: My Detox — Lisa at 12:15 am on Thursday, September 8, 2005

My first day of freedom-whew!! I made sure to be really careful with this day and not it any junkie stores that I could find!! I still followed much of what I have been doing the past almost 2 weeks. I did the usual fruit in the morning (though I will be looking forward to having bananas and cereal now!), with the nut mix throughout the day-and for dinner I had a different type of spaghetti-this time the brown rice spaghetti with spinach in it. It was SOOOOOOOO good and really filling~! That is what I like about the brown rice spaghetti-it fills you up nicely but not TOO much~! I was excited about adding JUST a little bit of parmesan cheese-AAAAAAAAAAAAAH-and for my salad, I had it with the Roasted Red Pepper and Parmesan dressing that I LOVE! AHHHHHHHHH!

That kept me nice and full (I even have left overs for tomorrow!) with a meatball on the side. I did my usual water drinking and had rice cakes with the almond butter and cashew spread on top. Not too bad-if I keep this up, I will be in detox form for a long time!! haha!

Day 12-the Finale

Filed under: My Detox — Lisa at 11:49 pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2005

Wow-already 12 days and I am on my last day. It is so nice to see the herbal pills containers get empty-with just enough for today! Thankfully I didn’t have any weird reactions to the herbs-a few times ago, I would always get sickly and feel nauseaous when I would take the pills. This time went nice and smooooooooooothly!! Well, I woke up this morning with that tinge of heartburn left over from last night-NOT a nice feeling-the thing is, I cannot take anything for it because the PEPCID AC (which is a miracle for it), has all that stuff I cannot have. That has been another down of this detox..not being able to take throat lozenges and such-I am thankful that my Fisherman’s
Friends are acceptable because those keep my throat nicely moist. But some days you just feel like a Hall’s or a piece of gum! (There is more where this came from … )

Day 11

Well it is hard to believe that my detox is almost over! I am sure you all will be thrilled because it must be pretty darn boring having to read about what I eat every day!

Yesterday was a really good one again, even though when I had to go to Sobey’s for some food shopping, there were SOOOOOOO many good things to choose! OY! I started off the day with my usual juicy peach-and throughout I snacked on almonds. Those are life savers with this whole mess because I am able to snack on them whenever I want and they keep the stomach settled! (There is more where this came from … )

Day 10

Filed under: My Detox — Lisa at 11:41 pm on Sunday, September 4, 2005

Today I got out of bed late..too late…that is because I went to bed last night late…WAY too late. Haha Oh well, it has been ages since I have pulled a 4:00 am sleep time. I dragged my sorry butt out of bed today and just moped around the house. I had a HUGE peach because I needed my breakfast even though it was definitely in to lunch time when I had it. The almonds that I got from Costco are not all that great-not soft and tasty, but harder and dry-too bad the bag is so big so now we have to keep it. Thank goodness for the nice fresh cashews that I throw in the container to add variety. (There is more where this came from … )

Day 9

Filed under: My Detox — Lisa at 11:55 pm on Saturday, September 3, 2005

Well it was SO nice to be able to get out of bed at 9:00 am this morning..how disgusting that THIS hour means I am sleeping in! Of course, I still woke up a few times between 7:00 am and 8:00 am…and it didn’t help that last night around midnight when I was on the phone, I kept falling asleep in the conversation. The sun was shining bright today and I had to get up at 9:00 am so that I could get ready for my chiro appointment. Geesh, from one Doctor to another…there I go! That is ok because it is better to get them out of the way before school and the grind start up! (There is more where this came from … )

Day 8

Filed under: My Detox — Lisa at 11:52 pm on Friday, September 2, 2005

I got up this morning tired as usual…but I came out with good hair so that made me happy! Today is my annual physical with the Doctor. Thankfully I don’t have to pee in a cup there or get my blood pulled-you now have to go to another place to do it, and I can do that annnnnnnnytime!! I wanted to weigh myself this morning to see what I weigh at home on the digital scale, and what I weigh at the Doctors office when I go (I am writing this part at 9:00 am). This was right when I got out of bed and right before my morning unload (and yes, I DO unload quite the load in the morning!!)…I weighed in at 129. Not too bad actually. It must mean that when I first started my detox, I had to be about 132 or so. For me, my comfortable weight is around 128. (There is more where this came from … )

Day 7

Filed under: My Detox — Lisa at 11:49 pm on Thursday, September 1, 2005

Hard to believe that I am in my 7th day already!! This morning left me not wanting to wake up but I had woken up an hour earlier with a full bladder..I guess I shouldn’t have drank that last few glasses of water the night before! Even though I got more sleep this time around, I woke up tired still..yup, it is time to stop the job and not be in this environment anymore. Though I do credit this place with putting my body back on track with this detox (based on timing schedules etc) and making it easier, it is time to just go back to my usual life even though I will end up having longer days than here. Still, I am glad that I started my detox a week ago because I will be finished next week by now which is right in the start of my teaching week-and then I can carry on my good habits through the usual grind of things.

At any rate, I had an apple for breakfast this morning which was really tasty once again. I know it won’t fill me up for very long but luckily I brought along my usual stash of almonds, with carrots and cauliflower (I MUST eat them) and another batch of my rice salad. That should do me in for the day!

When I got home I was SO exhausted again that I went and took a nap at 5:00, and got out of bed at 8:00. I felt so much better which was great and then I was hungry. For dinner I had some of that rice pasta which I have to say I absolutely LOVE! On the detox you are limited in the areas of rice, however, if you go with brown rice, you can have 80% of that in your diet. My mom wasn’t sure if I could even have that because technically you can’t have anything that can be made in to a flour…but then again, you are encouraged to eat almonds and THAT can be made in to a paste and a milk..so I think that having pure rice pasta is ok.

I love it anyways-it tastes like Chinese rice noodles. So I had a nice helping of that with a spring green salad. I don’t love that stuff because I am convinced it tastes like weeds, but it is super healthy so I have no choice. Plus I call that filler-that doesn’t fill! haha

Since I finished my dinner late, I didn’t have a snack or anything…it is a good feeling to feel light in your stomach after you eat!!
