Wrap it Up!
Oh yeah, a fitness blog…I forgot I had one…just like I forgot I had a gym membership that I pay for every 2 weeks! Ugh! So how is life going health wise? Pretty good. I have been at work fulltime for the past two weeks which has forced me to drink water and eat throughout the day. I have found a neat system-when I eat my breakfast around 7:30 am (usually bran and rice milk which is my new favorite cause the soy was not doing good on me), I find that around 9:30 or so, I get a bit hungry. So I usually have my cherries or fruit of some sort, but mostly these big juicy cherries. Then around 12:30 I am hungry again, so I would have my lunch-a sandwhich of sorts or a salad. Then a few hours later I am hungry and was having some nuts or something. Then a few hours later it was dinner time. You get the idea. But I liked how the body was working itself up so that after each meal, it would be small enough to digest and get hungry again. It is a neat way to work your body and apparently a healthier way to go.
Then the rice krispie squares messed it up.
So the lady who comes and brings me lunch for sale every day came with the BIGGEST rice krispie squares I have ever seen in my life. I was thrilled and got one-sooooooo good that I nibbled on it all day. No biggie. And a few days later when I got myself another krispie, it was the same thing. Then I started noticing that I would feel sick right after eating it and not hungry enough to want to eat dinner. So I must admit that the krispie has wrecked the pattern-something changes when I eat it. I usually get one 3 times a week…definitely 3 times too many. Today I said no and tomorrow I finish my job here so that will be the last of the krispies for a good long time…unless the other temping place I have offers it!
One thing I did discover though, was how good wraps are. I found this out last month at my year end recital when my students mother brought her famous wraps. And were they EVER amazing. She used the different flavored tortillas and inside she lined them with herb cream cheese, chicken chunks, a slice of red pepper or yellow and an asparagus but from the jar. OH MY GAWD! So tasty that I went and tried making my own-good but never quite as good as someone elses!
Today I discovered a new kind of wrap. The lunch lady keeps showing them to me and I would keep getting my krispies instead. Silly girl. Well the wrap I got from her today was with a tomato tortilla and inside was shredded lettuce with some shredded cheese. Next there was some sort of sauce, maybe mayo with lots of pepper in it? And with that there was chunks of chicken along with crab meat and shrimp and some red pepper. That was SUCH a tasty wrap! I never thought of putting crab meat or shrimp in a wrap. Plus I think I have been doing it all wrong with the way I do my wraps-I do them like tubes and then wrap them up a bit. But these ones are done more like big burritos and are folded. So much better. Needless to say I thoroughly enjoyed my wrap and was drooling over it!
I also got myself a great salad from this lady which I will try tonight or tomorrow..it has lettuce, spinach, roasted almonds, crab, shrimp, mandarines and blueberries. Now how does THAT sound for a salad?? I can’t wait to try it.
So now that I have no rice krispies to eat today, I wonder how I will feel by the end of the workday. Probably pretty relieved that I am not nauseated by a big ass krispie that if I were to continue eating often, would all BUT give me the big ass that Michelle warned me of getting! lol
In conclusion, rice krispies are only good once in a while and if you want a different variation on your lunches, try a wrap filled with anything you can stick in there-but go light on the sauce so your tortilla doesn’t get soggy-remember, it is ALWAYS about the sauce!
