Trauma: Life in the Gym

Day 6

Filed under: Slim-Tech — Lisa at 10:11 pm on Friday, March 31, 2006

Today was another busy one at that-I got up very early though-not sure why. It sure is no fun when you fall asleep near 2:00 am and end up waking up at 7:00 am completely. Thankfully I stayed in bed longer though or else I would be getting a little TOO wierd! (There is more where this came from … )

Multi-Bran Blueberry Banana Bread

Filed under: Healthy Recipes — Lisa at 12:49 am on Friday, March 31, 2006

I was inspired to make this bread because I love the cereal I eat so much-when I looked inside the box I saw a recipe for Blueberry Banana Bread using some of the cereal as a base. With coincidentally THREE bananas nearby that were on the verge of mush, I decided it was time to make this bread even though it has sugar in it (which I have been studiously avoiding)…but it was more packed with healthy stuff to justify making it. Plus, I found a nice 8 inch pan at Homesense today that just demanded my attention!! Here goes: (There is more where this came from … )

Mushroom Barley Soup

Filed under: Healthy Recipes — Lisa at 11:58 pm on Thursday, March 30, 2006

I tried this tonight and really liked it-and even better is the fact that I didn’t have to cook it myself from scratch. The soup is called Mushroom Barley from the President’s Choice Blue Menu label-the only ingredients in the soup are: Water, Fresh Mushrooms, Onions, Carrots, Celery, Pot Barley, Beef extract, Tomato paste, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Carrot Fibre, Salt, Onion Powder, Spices. Day 5

Filed under: Slim-Tech — Lisa at 11:49 pm on Thursday, March 30, 2006

Today was a pretty good day with running around the city!! Since I was saving the only ripe bananas I had for my baking later on, I just had some all bran cereal with my soy milk. Much of the day was spent out so I brought along my almond container and snacked on some of my granola with nuts and fruit from Costco. (this stuff is AWESOME!). Day 4

Filed under: Slim-Tech — Lisa at 11:50 pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2006

Today was a bit of a crunch day-I magically ended up sleeping later than usual, then I hopped in the shower, did the rollers, only to have my hair come out completely flat and overly soft.

I made sure to have a small plum for my breakfast (even though it as around noon when I ate it), so that I could have room for a lunch date with Michelle at Boston Pizza close to where I work. (There is more where this came from … )

Day 3

Filed under: Slim-Tech — Lisa at 11:33 pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2006

I once again got up early today-this is all becoming wierd. I must say that I am never thrilled when a full bladder RUSHES me out of bed in the morning.

I decided to take some time to read a book and pop my 30 min before pill (I hate saying pill cause it sounds like some sort of diet thing). I then took to trying out my new WEETABIX breakfast biscuits that I got from the health store. (There is more where this came from … )

Day 2

Filed under: Slim-Tech — Lisa at 11:41 pm on Monday, March 27, 2006

Today was a rather busy one-it is a good thing I brought along some food with me as I got hit by a few hunger pangs through the day! I had to be out earlier to get things done prior to work-I was up at the crazy hour of 9:00 am this morning-I got OUT of bed at 10:00 and treated myself to a nice full cup of bran sticks with my brown rice milk and a half banana. It was SO tasty-that is what I love about breakfast…the crunchy bran!! One cup had 28 grams of fiber-perfect!! (There is more where this came from … )

My Next Program/Day 1

Filed under: Slim-Tech — Lisa at 11:39 pm on Sunday, March 26, 2006

I woke up today and was all ready to start my next program, Slim Tech. This is also formulated by Dr. Terry Willard, the maker of the famous Wild Rose detox plans. I weighed myself to see what my final weightloss from the detox was, and I came in at 6.5 pounds. Some people may think, “THAT’S IT??” but for me that 6.5 pounds off my back is really a big step. In the past 12 days I made BIG changes to my diet-lots of water, no pop, more veggies and no starches/yeast products-and a stronger committment to my health than before. So the 6.5 pounds is a bonus and it gets me 3 pounds away from my best weight, and about 5 away from my excellent weight! (There is more where this came from … )

Day 12

And so it is the END of my detox today…I actually found the chart that I had to try and follow throughout these 12 days. Have a peek:

Day 11

Filed under: My Detox-Round 2 — Lisa at 10:16 pm on Friday, March 24, 2006

One day left…how quickly the past 10 have gone!! (Spoken like a true veteran of the detox world! haha)

This morning I started it off nice and early with an unwanted rush to the loo to well..you know…I don’t know what I ate last night to make me go and go, but I did and that was that. I had an apple for more fiber intake as well. I can’t wait to have some real fibre cereal-not that good stuff, but the crunchy fiber-the kind that tastes like cardboard-I actually like it, throw in some bananas and soy milk and vavoom!!
