Soy What?

Filed under: Lisa's Picks — Lisa at 10:04 pm on Friday, May 26, 2006

Soy Soy Soy!!! I have to say that I have quite enjoyed substituting my soy milk for regular milk. No more gas and pain!! As of late I have tried a few different brands but have come to my most favorite ones-if you want good soy milk that doesn’t taste all tofu and gross, be sure to buy the brand PACIFIC SOY in Vanilla, or you can try the PRESIDENT’S CHOICE ORGANIC soy milk in Vanilla as well. The price is pretty close though the Superstore brand is a bit cheaper. These are the only two which almost taste sinful-I love the flavor and you can even get chocolate and mango and strawberry, but for my bran, I stick with Vanilla. Plain soy milk tastes just like rubber tofu! Yech. (There is more where this came from … )

Lying At the Gym

Filed under: My Attempt at Fitness — Lisa at 11:27 pm on Sunday, May 21, 2006

So today I dragged myself out to the gym…didn’t want to go but knew that if I was going to get away with eating that buffet yesterday and then another one today, I would have to circulate the food around me somehow. I don’t know what it is but I really don’t like working out when it is hot..ok, so I don’t like working out at all!! I was practically boiling when I got to the gym because I avoid air conditioning in my car. I couldn’t be bothered to do my hair so I put on my black tam hat and covered it up. I put on my black ROOTS athletic yoga pants, black top and shoes…then I threw on my black and pink tracksuit jacket. I swear I looked like I went to a funeral-no earrings on, nothing! You Gotta Try This!

Filed under: Lisa's Picks — Lisa at 11:03 pm on Monday, May 15, 2006

A few weeks ago I came across a fabulous tasting frozen dinner–Michelina’s frozen dinners now come in various brands of whole grain rice with toppings. The one I got was the whole grain rice with vegetables. I decided to bring it with me to work one day and had it for lunch. I was CRAZY about the dish-sure it is quite small (maybe under a cup of rice is really IN that), but the grainy texture was so awesome-plus the veggies were good too and the sauce it came in was a sort of garlic-y taste but very light. I absolutely recommend this to anyone as a nice and quick lunch (you may want to bring something else with you too). I also think it would be cool to cook up some more rice and mix it in with this batch, this way you get the tasty sauce on it too! I got another flavor as well but from the same brand that I have to try. (There is more where this came from … )

Finish Line

Filed under: Slim-Tech — Lisa at 12:06 am on Wednesday, May 10, 2006

I guess I should write about my finale with Slim-Tech even though I have been finished the program for a handful of days now. I am rather proud of myself for having gone through 30 days of being good about taking my 30-90 minute prior capsule and my Di-gest capsules with my food. Since this time has passed I have successfully lost the 10 pounds I put on and all has been well. Yep, in 45 days I only lost 10 pounds, but honestly I am quite happy with that. I tend to lose weight REALLY slowly and gain it just as slow. My clothes fit perfectly fine now and even a tad bit too big depending on the item and that is great by me. I have been continuing to drink my water and try to eat what I can during the day. (There is more where this came from … )

Trying to Work Out

Filed under: My Attempt at Fitness — Lisa at 11:11 pm on Monday, May 8, 2006

What a day! From being totally annoyed with the literal 7 calls I had to return between the time I was awakened in the morning to the time I left, I was able to get nothing done prior to leaving the house! Despite being awakend at 9:00 am…I dragged myself out of bed at about 11:00. I was intending on working out, then putting rollers in my hair, eating and getting ready for work. Instead I had to return all these calls and knew I wouldn’t be able to fit everything in. When 1:00 rolled around, I decided that I could sneak in some sort of Jane Fonda workout for about a half hour. I got ready-put the tape on and started warming up. Veggie Chips

Filed under: Lisa's Picks — Lisa at 11:51 pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2006

Just came across these very tasting chips-and not really even chips. Here are the ingredients as they are supposed to be VEGAN and VEGETARIAN friendly as well:

Cassava, Tapioca Flour, Sunflower Oil, Sesame Seeds, Vegetables (Chinese cabbage, Garlic, Shallot leaves), Came sugar, Sea Salt, Herbs and Spices, onion. (There is more where this came from … )

Winning at the Gym

Filed under: Random Happenings — Lisa at 11:39 pm on Monday, May 1, 2006

Definitely a random happening for me..and go figure it has nothing to do with my eating schedule. Although I must say that I am officially crazy about those best tasting cabbage rolls EVER from the farmer’s market! Oh and note to self, never buy a salad from Superstore for the amount of $5.48! I know I said I wouldn’t do it, but today I really needed a salad before heading to work-and I needed a jam packed one. So the chef salad it was…but I came to the conclusion that the container the salads come in look TWICE as big than they really are. I almost finished the container and that is always rather rare-and I think the cheese in the salad and the egg were the culprits to give me a gassy feeling all night long! No more!
